On This Day in History: Dr. Seuss’ Birthday

March 2, 1904 marks the day the highly acclaimed children’s author and political cartoonist Dr. Seuss was born. Having written and illustrated more than 60 books over his career, giants like Green Eggs and Ham, Fox in Sox, and The Lorax are found in children’s libraries across the globe.

This quote of his stood out to me, as often, especially in the last two years, it feels that many in our society are quick to forget that kids are people too, and aren’t meant to be shields for their ancestors that have had the fortune of living full lives.

One of my favourites of Dr. Seuss’ stories showcases the genius behind his creativity, while remaining relevant across decades; particularly during these current times. Although the story was published in 1961, travel back to 1973 and enjoy Dr. Seuss’ The Sneeches in full here:
